Grotto project

We managed the machining in our facilities of more than 600m³ of polystyrene where we shaped a large grotto located in a hotel complex in Thailand. We actively participated in both the manufacture and the construction solution.

A great challenge to provide a solution to a project with very particular characteristics. It was a question of developing together with our client, the constructive solution, 3D model and ideal quartering for the assembly on site of the base in polystyrene for the conformation of a grotto of interior measures 15,00×15,00m with a height in the centre of 12,00m and an upper opening, in order to give light to the whole complex, 4,00m. Here, EP elements acted as the designer and manufacturer of the pieces, all of which were unique, with a total of more than 700 large pieces.

Theming and 3D technology

One of the main reasons that led EP elements to win this project was the great capacity it has in the design and development of 3D models, as well as their manufacture using hot wire cutting CNC and powerful machining robots.

Thanks to the aforementioned, EP elements was able to show the client in advance how the result of this "assembly meccano" would look like, where using BIM (building information modelling) methodology we previously emulated the entire project, solving any interference with the existing open-plan building. Because of this, we also had to design the proposed metal structure in 3D, so that all parts were tailored to what the work had already been installed, this is our method.

Designing projects

Finally, it is worth mentioning the great solution and idea. Our technology allows us to foresee prefabricated works in any part of the world, here in particular it was in Thailand, where due to all our work prior to manufacture and our experience, we were able to offer the client a previous result where we could show exactly what they were going to receive. This is our added value and, in works of great caliber like this, they acquire more value because we do not leave in the hands of "others" the final finish and offered to the customer through 3D models.
